easymap and easymap explorer

All the maps you see in the easymap explorer are designed in easymap. As far as possible, the design of the workbook will remain the same. However, the following important differences have to be taken into account in order to make a workbook suitable for display in easymap explorer to prepare.

Sheets and Maps

easymap explorer will only show you content within maps. All objects outside a map (i.e. directly on a sheet) appear in the easymap explorer not. Different maps are used in easymap explorer are always displayed separately, even if they are on one sheet in easymap. An exception are legends which are located on the sheet (see below: Different display of legends).

Note: If an object is on the sheet, but is later placed in easymap explorer is to be displayed, drag and drop it into a map using Drag&Drop in the control window Contents. Alternatively, you can insert objects directly into the map (more information in the section Contents of Maps).

Differences in the map display

Maps must be converted to another coordinate system during publication. The basis for this is that the map in easymap has a coordinate system set (readable in the properties of the map, area general/projection). This depends on the base map used.

By the conversion into another coordinate system it can come to different side effects:

  • Changing the displayed map section
  • Changes from Scales (e.g. recognizable by object Scale)
  • Impact on some analyses (e.g. the grid analysis)
  • Distortions of objects. For example, a circular geometric shape can become an elliptical shape, and positioning shifts can occur.

Restrictions for Some Objects

Some objects can not be moved in maps in easymap and are therefore not available in easymap explorer are available (e.g. inset map, RTF texts).

Other objects can be displayed in the easymap explorer are not displayed even if you are in a map:

As an alternative you can set a background map like the maps of BingMaps or WebAtlas of BKG.

Note: Any publication of work results for the creation of which the functions of easymap pro are used is not permitted for licensing reasons.

Deviating representation of legends

legends, which are located on the leaf, are displayed in theeasymap explorer displayed in a modified form (in a separate, non-zoomed legend area outside the map).

The greatness with which legends in easymap explorer is based on the size of the legend in easymap. If you use several legend elements in one map, it is recommended to use the same font size for all legend elements in easymap. Since the legend is displayed in easymap explorer is displayed in a separate legend area, it can be positioned anywhere on the sheet in easymap.

If a legend is located within one map, it is not additionally displayed in the separate area of the legends. This legend is then part of the base map and is displayed on the map like all other objects.

Analyses

All analyses available in the easymap workbook are displayed in the easymap explorer transferred, whether they are visible or not.

If you do not want a particular analysis to be displayed in the easymap explorer is offered, you can delete this analysis from the workbook delete or you set the availability for this analysis to no in the release dialog.

Different character sequence of the layers

Borders and texts of territories are defined in the easymap explorer are always displayed below the analyses (except area-based analyses), even if they are drawn above the analysis in easymap.

Restrictions for base maps

Maps or layers are removed in the following cases and are not available:

Linked data and images

If the data in easymap are linked, they will be saved in the easymap explorer is embedded in the workbook and from now on behave like imported data. Changes in the data will only be visible when uploading again.

Graphics are also embedded in the workbook, even if the setting Embed graphics is not selected.

Reports

Reports  added in easymap are displayed ineasymap explorer An important difference is the possibility to define the report access. Please note that reports with authorization set work differently than reports without set report access. For technical reasons a normal clip map is used. The behavior of some functions may therefore differ from reports without set report access.

Also note that die Output details des reports are not taken into account. The environment is always hidden, a border is not used and the maximum scale is always used.
