Web Map

easymap offers you an interface for the integration of maps from the Internet, e.g. to load road maps into the workbook for visualization. Prerequisite is that during the runtime of easymap there is access to the Internet, the desired Internet map service allows access via REST and the service can deliver images in the form of addressable tiles in the projection WGS 84/Web-Mercator (EPSG:3857).

Note: The more advanced WMTS standard is not supported, only direct access to the tiles. When inserting an Internet map, easymap asks for the access data (e.g. server address, access key). The user can obtain these from the Internet sites of the map providers. Some map services are free of charge, others are chargeable. The user is responsible for obtaining the access data and complying with the map provider's license terms. For the predefined providers, use the link "Terms of use..." to view them.

Service settings

Specify the settings for accessing the server.

Server address

Select the server that provides the Internet map. The list contains a few predefined servers as well as the possibility to address a user-defined server.

If you are using a user-defined server, you must define some settings yourself, such as how the server can be accessed and how the tiles are to be processed.

The settings for user-defined server addresses:

URL format

These settings are only required for the option server address = (user defined)

Here you can set the scheme of the web address from which you want to retrieve the maps/tiles. The following macros can be used for access. Macros must always be enclosed in square brackets, upper and lower case must be observed:

[Rnd(x)]	Returns a number in the range 0..x or a letter in the range a..x. Some servers allow better load balancing.

Access key (optional)

Most tile servers require prior registration. In these cases, you usually receive an access key, which must be specified when tiles are retrieved. You can enter it here.

Tile system

In this block, you define the form of the tiles on this server. Servers for Internet maps deliver the maps as small images, which are placed next to each other and together form a map. The settings you specify must match the settings of the server, otherwise the Internet map will display incorrect content.

Coordinate System

Coordinate system in which the map contained in the images is displayed.

For most servers this is Web-Mercator (EPSG: 3857).

Tile size (pixel)

Size of an image file supplied by the server in pixels.

For almost all servers this is 256 pixels.

Rectangle (x0,y0,x1,y1)

Here the exact size of the map area for zoom level 0 must be defined in the coordinate system, which is determined by the property of the same name. The coordinates are separated by semicolons in the order left border - upper border - right border - lower border. If this setting is not exactly correct, the Internet map cannot be placed correctly!

If the setting Web Mercator (EPSG: 3857) is used for the coordinate system, the setting is normally

Min. zoom level / Max. zoom level zoom level

Most suppliers can only supply tiles for a certain scale range. To avoid unnecessary requests, you can set here in which scale ranges (defined by zoom level) easymap tries to retrieve tiles.

If a higher zoom level would be required, easymap will retrieve the tiles at the maximum valid zoom level and enlarge them. If a smaller zoom level would be required, easymap does not display the boarding school map.

Style

Copyright text

(only for server address=user defined)

Specifies the text that appears in the bottom right corner of each map view. Some providers specify in their license terms that such text must be displayed.

Projection mode

Here you can set whether the tiles should be rotated or distorted. With rotated tiles you increase the sharpness of the display, but there may be gaps between the tiles. The blurred display prevents gaps between the tiles.

details

easymap uses the scale of the current map display to determine the zoom level at which the tiles must be called up. This corresponds to the Standard setting.

If you want to see more or less details, you can select a different setting here.

Colors

Transparency

Here you can set the percentage value for the transparency of the coloring.

Transparent Color

(only for server address=user defined)

Here you can specify a color that should become transparent (translucent) when the map is displayed. Whether this is necessary depends on the provider. Sometimes the tiles have a white background, which in easymap covers all objects behind it. In this case you can set e.g. white as transparency color, which makes all white areas of the Internet map transparent.

Displays the web page of the selected provider.

Commands

You can right-click on an object in the control window Contents or on a selected object in the map window to open its context menu. This offers some actions that can be performed on this object.

List of commands in the context menu

Transfer Selection to	Transfers the current selection geographically to another object. Details...
Visible	Shows whether the object is visible and allows switching the visibility.
Order	Here you can change the selected element in the character sequence. Another option is to drag and drop the selected element within the content view.
Clip Map	Here you can define a different clip map for the analysis.
Zoom to zoom level...	Enter the number of the desired zoom level (between 0 and 10) of the Internet map here. The map is then zoomed in or out automatically.
Map	Here you will find various commands for the map.
Copy	Copy the object (if necessary with all subobjects) to the clipboard to paste it elsewhere. The object can be inserted in other applications as a graphic, or inserted in EasyMap as a copy of this object using the Insert command.
Paste	Pastes the contents of the clipboard into this object as a child object.
Delete	Deletes the selected element. (See also: delete objects)
Rename	Changes the content view to an edit mode to give the object a new name. (This can also be achieved by clicking on an object that has already been marked.)
Properties	Opens a properties dialog in which you can edit the Properties of the selected object. If several objects are selected, many properties can also be changed simultaneously for these objects.
