Drag&Drop

The Drag&Drop principle (="drag and drop") is used everywhere in Windows operating systems. It is known from the Explorer, where files can be moved or copied with this method.

Drag&Drop within easymap

In the following situations, Drag&Drop is available:

  • Insert new maps from the control window base maps onto a sheet.
  • Insert new layers into existing maps from the control window base maps on a map.
  • IInsert new analyses from the control window Data to a map.
  • Insert new individual diagrams from the control window Data onto a map.
  • Insert new table objects from the control window Data to a map.
  • Inserting objects from the control window Objects onto a sheet.
  • Copy or move objects in the control window content or on the sheet and partly in the map (e.g. diagram analyses, area sites or -labels etc.).

Drag&Drop of files from the Windows-Explorer to easymap

You can drag various files from the Explorer to the map window using Drag&Drop. This offers an alternative to inserting maps, objects or data via the corresponding menu commands.

Graphic files,

Drag graphic files (e.g. *.png, *.jpg) onto the sheet to insert them as freehand graphics. This is an alternative to pasting using the Control window Objects.

text files

Drag text files (*.txt, *.doc, *.docx) onto the sheet to insert them as text objects. This is an alternative to pasting using the Control window Objects.

RTF files

Drag RTF text files (*.rtf) onto the sheet to insert them as RTF text objects. You can create such files e.g. with the Windows accessory program WordPad or also with Word. This is an alternative to pasting using the Control window Objects.

Base Maps

You can drag the following base map files onto the sheet to insert them as maps: *.LTG, *.shp, *.refx, *.refx2, *.dik. This is an alternative to pasting via the control window base maps.

Word files

Drag Word documents (*.doc;*.docx) onto the sheet to insert them as RTF text objects. Please note that only small Word documents are suitable for this. On the one hand, processing large Word documents takes quite a long time, on the other hand easymap is not designed to display large cross-page formatted texts as Word does.

Excel files

You can very quickly import all data from an Excel file by dragging the Excel file onto a sheet. This corresponds to importing the Excel file with the default settings.

If you hold down Ctrl while pasting, the data will be linked instead of imported.

Drag&Drop in combination with control keys

In general, the behaviour of the Drag&Drop process can be influenced by the additional pressing of control keys:

  • Ctrl key: The element is moved.
  • Shift key: The element is copied.
  • If no button is pressed, the most appropriate mode is automatically used.
