user administration

The user administration offers the possibility to invite new users as well as to define the authorization level (read, edit, administer) of the users. In addition, the user administration offers an overview of all pending invitations as well as a listing of all users with the respective authorization level.

Invite users

You invite a new user to easymap explorer by e-mail. You can also enter several e-mail addresses at the same time in the corresponding input field. These should be separated from each other with a line break.

Next, assign a permission (Read, Edit, Administrate) for the user(s). You can add the users with the multiple selection directly in one or more groups by selecting already existing groups. This saves you from having to add users later in the group management. Optionally, you can compose a message and send a copy of the invitation to you.

The invited person will receive an email with a link to easymap explorer registration. Under Pending invitations you get an overview of who has not yet accepted the invitation. In case of a long list you have here the possibility to sort or search by email addresses and date.

If an invitation is not accepted by the user within 14 days, it loses its validity. Expired invitations can be resent and thus extend the expiration date of the invitation. With the multiple selection at the first column and the icon at the bottom of the list, an invitation can be resent to several users at the same time. Pending invitations can be deleted by clicking on the trash can.

Edit users

  • The multiple selection function allows you to select and edit multiple users at the same time.

  • By clicking on the information icon, you can directly see which groups the user is in and remove the person from a group directly via this.
  • By clicking Edit user (pencil icon) you can change the permissions of the users. The next time the user logs in, the changes you made will take effect.
  • By clicking on the X symbol, the permission is activated until the browser is closed and thus the session is terminated. This function is useful when editing by the authorized user is not possible. Example: A map folder has been uploaded to easymap explorer for a user group to view. However, only one user in the company is authorized to edit. If the user authorized to edit is absent, the administrator can change the rights so that editing or uploading is possible for other users.
  • You can export the table with the listed users. Click Export all users and you will get a CSV file that can be opened with Excel, among others. In the table you will find the user name and the respective user ID.

  • Under settings, the administrator can assign himself the permission to edit for all uploaded map folders.

Filter and sort users

In the upper part of the user administration you can sort columns and filter records.

  • By clicking on a column designation, the column can be displayed in ascending or descending order. By means of the arrows next to the designation you can see which sorting is currently active.
  • The input windows under the column names give you the possibility of facilitated filtering by auto-completion.

  • Clicking on the filter icon removes the filter.

Windows authentication

If you use Windows authentication (NTLM, Kerberos), the user administration provides you with an overview of all users with the respective authorization level. The assignment of user rights (read, edit, administer) is handled by the IT department administrator in the Active Directory. Users that have been deactivated in the Active Directory by IT are grayed out in the list. The accounts of the Active Directory and easymap explorer can be synchronized by the "Update Windows Accounts" button.
