Installation instructions

This page explains how to install easymap using the user interface and activate your license. For more information on how to deploy easymap, please refer to the Notes for IT administrators

Note: To activate the license and start easymap an internet connection is required. When starting easymap, a concurrent user check is performed. Thus, you can install easymap on any number of computers and activate it with your license key. When you start easymap, it will automatically check if a license is available. If no license is free, an additional concurrent user must wait until another user has finished easymap.

1. Install easymap

After you have downloaded the Setup and executed it, please follow the individual steps of the installation wizard:

  1. Accept the license terms and select the setup type Complete.
  2. Select Anyone who uses this computer to perform the installation for all users of the computer. In this case, administrator rights are required. Choose Only for me to run the installation only for the currently signed in user. Usually no admin rights are required for this.
  3. When the installation is complete, leave the option Start program checked. Then click Complete.

2. Activate license

As soon as the installation process is finished or you start easymap for the first time, a window opens to activate the license.

  1. Click Activate license. If you don't have a license key, you can use the free Demoversion (The following steps will be omitted then).

  2. All data and base maps to be installed are now displayed. If you have already installed data and base maps, these will also be listed. If you do not want to install certain data or base maps, remove the corresponding check mark. Click on Install.

Subsequent installation of maps and data

If you want to install additional base maps or purchased data later, e.g. after a map update, start easymap. In the main menu select Extras > install base maps.

All base maps and data to be installed will now display in a window. If you have already installed maps or data, they will also be listed. If you do not want to install some types of maps or data, uncheck the appropriate box. Click Install.

4. Update check, error report and usage statistics

When you start easymap for the first time, you choose one of the three options to search for updates, send error reports and anonymous usage statistics. You can also change this setting later under Extras > Options > Update check, Error report, Usage statistics. Further information on the data protection regulations can be found here.
