Automatic zoom yes or no? - A decision aid
It is not always clear at the beginning of work whether you will need the automatic zoom function in the workbook or not. easymap is designed so flexibly that you can also switch on and use the automatic zoom function at a later time.
If, for example, you are in a planning phase of your project, you can switch on the automatic zoom function for the planning itself on a sheet. When the planning is finished and you want to output this structure as a printed map, you should start a new sheet for printing. This sheet does not contain an automatic zoom and only selected elements of the topography. From the beginning, a clear separation between planning and printing is achieved.
Working without automatic zoom - what do I have to consider?
It is not always necessary to use the automatic zoom function. For example, when preparing a map sheet for printing a large-format map. In this case, you should not use the automatic zoom function to be able to directly see and estimate whether the map meets your expectations.
To ensure that the map is adequately designed, you should switch off the automatic zoom directly for the desired sheet. In this way the elements inserted on the sheet are still displayed in the state of Observe scale ranges, but this no longer has any effect on the display.
In the first step you should make the layers visible that are to be reproduced later when printing and either delete or make invisible all unwanted layers.
