Global Options

The global options can be found in the menu Extras > Options. Here you will find all settings for easymap that relate to the application.

Some setting options are great for setting your company's CI templates as default for all workbookn.

Tab Common

Application Here you can make changes that affect the basic appearance of the application.
Language	Here you can define the language used in the easymap interface. The change only takes effect after restarting the application.
Visual Style	Here you can define the color appearance of the application.
Optimize handling	Select here whether you want to operate easymap by mouse input or by finger input.
Update check, bug reports, usage statistics	With use recommended settings, the program automatically checks for updates, sends an error report to easymap in case of an error in the application and automatically sends usage statistics on the usage of easymap functions. See Privacy Policy for details. With Check for updates only an automatic search for current ServicePacks is performed. With the setting Do not check for updates no search for updates is performed. This should then be done by the user himself.
Show Welcome Screen	Defines whether the welcome screen with some DeepL access functions is displayed when easymap is started.
Enable Undo	Activate or deactivate the undo function in easymap In case of a high memory load, e.g. due to a lot of imported data or a lot of sheets with map displays or the use of shape files, it may be useful to do without the undo function in order to ensure smooth working. For more information on saving memory, see here.
Load and Save
Open Last Workbook	Yes: easymap automatically opens the last used workbook at startup No: easymap starts with an empty workbook (more precisely: with the template)
Create a backup copy on saving	A backup copy: easymap receives the previous version of the workbook as backup copy each time it is saved. A previously existing backup copy is overwritten by the new backup copy. Multiple backup copies: easymap receives the previous version of the workbook as backup copy each time it is saved. A new backup copy is created each time the workbook is saved. You can use this to access any previous version later. No: No backup copy will be created.
Auto Backup	No: No backup copy will be created All xx minutes: set the period in which a backup copy should be made.
Template	Defines the map folder that will be used as the contents of a new map folder. By default, this is an empty 3-sheet map folder. If you want each of your created folders to have common features, you can use a different template.
Default Window Arrangement	Defines how the windows are arranged in a newly created map folder (see select window arrangement)
Properties window	Automatic collapse: the properties window is automatically collapsed again after editing Docking
Start in planning mode	When this option is set to Yes, a easymap district manager always in planning mode. Otherwise the planning mode must be activated manually after each opening. If you use easymap exclusively for sales territory planning, this option can be helpful. In case of a network installation, please keep in mind that easymap blocks a districtmanager license directly at startup.
File Locations
Standard path of the digital maps	The default path of the digital maps is used when you use the setting (Default path of digital maps) as the path in the Base Maps control window. This path is preset by Setup to the path where the maps are installed.
Further standard paths of digital maps	Further standard paths are listed here. If Ltg files are stored there, these are also displayed in the control window Base Maps with the setting Default path of digital maps. These are paths automatically defined by the program as well as the specified standard path of the digital maps.
Location of Symbols and Graphics	Default path, if you want to use symbols e.g. in analyses. easymap also searches for symbols in this path, if it cannot find the original files of non-embedded graphics.
Location of Palette Files	Default path if you want to load or save color palette files (e.g. in the classification dialog).
Template path	Default path if you want to load or save a workbook as a template.
Extended
Log detail level (only visible with Advanced settings)	easymap logs important actions in a log file. Here you can define which information should be written there. You should not normally change this setting. In agreement with our hotline you can temporarily change this value to identify problems with easymap. A wrong setting can increase the size of the log files significantly!
List barrier base maps (only visible with Advanced settings)	Barrier base maps are special base maps (*.bar.LTG files) that can be used for optimizations in the area of territory planning in order to take certain geographical peculiarities into account. Since these base maps are not helpful for other work, they are not listed in the control window Base Maps. If you still want to open such a base maps, e.g. to view the course of the barriers, you can force the display with this option and then insert the barrier base map in the usual way.
Number of Recent Files Listed	Specifies how many recently used map folders should be displayed in the File menu.
Allow parallel calculations (only visible with Advanced settings)	Some calculations can be distributed over several processors, provided the computer has more than one processor. This allows the calculations to run faster. In some cases (depending on the system configuration or hardware), problems may occur, and easymap may have to quit unexpectedly after an error. If this happens frequently on your system, please set "no" here to disable parallel calculations.
Activate suggestions in search fields (only visible with Advanced settings)	You can call a search function from the Edit menu or the context menus. You are offered suggestions as soon as you have entered at least four letters.
Show messages
Insert topographic content	When inserting a new digital map onto a sheet, you will be asked directly in the "Insert Topography" dialog whether topographic content should be inserted in addition to the geography you have inserted. The display of this dialog can be switched off. With this option you can force this dialog to be displayed again.
Convert workbook	When opening older map folders, you will be asked if you want to change the map folder to the new functions - automatic zoom. For more information on the automatic zoom and the conversion of older map folders, see here.

Tab Area sheets and maps

Map View
Zoom	Define how easymap behaves after an interactive zoom process has been completed (drawing the new map section with the mouse) Permanent: easymap remains in zoom mode and you can directly draw a rectangle again. Exit the zoom mode by selecting another mode. Once: After zooming, easymap switches to the previously selected mode. For another zoom process you have to start the zoom mode again.
Pan	Define how easymap behaves after an interactive moving process is finished (moving the map section with the mouse) Permanent: easymap remains in move mode and you can continue moving directly. Exit the move mode by selecting another mode. Once: After moving, easymap switches to the previously selected mode. For a further moving process you have to start the moving mode again.
Mark nearby ones	Define how easymap behaves after an interactive selection process is finished (marking of point symbols with the mouse) Permanent: easymap remains in the selection mode and you can continue the selection directly. Terminate the selection mode by selecting another mode. Once: After marking, easymap switches to the previously selected mode. For another selection process you have to start the selection mode again.
Show Ruler	Yes: A ruler is displayed around the map window, which can be helpful for the layout of objects. No: The ruler is not displayed.
Highlighted Objects (Color)	If you set up connections between tables and maps, objects in the map that are passed over in the table are highlighted with a border. You can specify the color of this border here.
Zoom to clip map	Yes: After setting up an clip map on a map, the map is automatically zoomed to the area still visible afterwards (see Zoom within the selected map). No: The map section remains unchanged. The default setting is "Yes". In some cases it may be helpful to set this to "No" in order to create several maps with the same map section but different clip maps. Note: If you use dynamic clip maps that automatically adapt to changed area layouts, the map section will never be adjusted. The Zoom to clip map setting has no effect here.
Margin of map layers	Here you can set how much of the map should also be displayed according to the clip map. Enter the data in percent.
Selection Mode	If objects or map elements are to be marked by drawing a rectangle, a circle or by freehand marking, it must be decided whether an object or map element is "present" or not. Cases of doubt are those objects that lie only partially in the defined area. contain (central point): The object is marked if a central point (usually the text point) falls into the marking. Touch: The object is selected if at least a part of it falls into the selection. This can also be, for example, an area that has just been cut. Complete Contained: The object is selected if it is completely within the selection. I.e. it is not marked, if somewhere a small part protrudes.
Drawing quality	Here you can define which technology is used to display the map contents. This setting significantly changes the quality of the map output, but also affects the drawing speed. Standard: The GDI technology is used for the map display. Line-shaped objects are not interpolated and may therefore appear to be slightly stepped. In addition, lines appear differently wide depending on their direction. On the other hand, the output is very fast. Graphics Device Interface High quality (hardware): A DirectX based technology with hardware support is used for the map display. In particular, linear objects are neatly displayed with the anti-aliasing method and appear to have the same width regardless of the direction of the gradient. The drawing speed is often slower than the other options. Note: This option is not available on Windows XP. Graphics system from Microsoft for efficient display of complex 2D and 3D graphics High quality (software): A DirectX -based technology without hardware support is used for the map display. Here, too, linear objects are neatly displayed using the anti-aliasing method and appear to have the same width regardless of the direction of the gradient. For most computers, this option offers the best compromise between high character quality on the one hand and high character speed on the other. Note: This option is not available on Windows XP. Graphics system from Microsoft for efficient display of complex 2D and 3D graphics High quality (GDI-Plus): The GDI-Plus technology is used for the map display. Here, too, linear objects are neatly displayed using the anti-aliasing method and appear to have the same width regardless of the direction of the gradient. However, the drawing speed is often slower than e.g. standard. Graphics system from Microsoft for efficient display of complex 2D and 3D graphics The High Quality (Software) option is used as the default setting starting with EasyMap 10.3. Note: Since the drawing speed depends on the hardware, especially the graphics adapter, and the operating system, we cannot give a general recommendation for one or the other setting. We recommend that you try each option once. On most computers, the Standard option will probably lead to the fastest image refresh. Note: If you plan mainly with easymap and the layout aspect is secondary, you can switch to the Standard mode to get faster map updates.
Coordinate Display
Coordinate System	Here you can set in which coordinate system easymap displays the coordinates over which the mouse is located. For this purpose, a map or objects in it must be selected. The default setting is the known geographical coordinates. EPSG code This new numbering add-on is a system of worldwide unique 4 to 5 digit key numbers for coordinate reference systems and other geodetic data sets.
Display of geogr. coordinates	Defines the format in which geographical coordinates are output. This affects the output in the status bar and in the table view. Decimal: Output in degrees. The minutes and seconds are added as a fraction of the degrees and everything is output as a decimal number. (Example: 50° 30' is output as 50.5°) degrees/minutes/seconds: The parts for degrees, minutes and seconds are shown separately (e.g. 50°30'12'')
Page Settings
Page Size	Default page size for newly created workbookn or newly added sheets.
Page Margin	Representation of the margin of a sheet. This border is only displayed on the screen as a guide, but never printed or output to exported graphics.
base maps in Shape-Format (only visible with Advanced Settings)
Use cache until	In order to enable a smooth working with base maps in shape format, the data is normally buffered in the working memory. However, with very large files this can lead to too much memory being required for this buffering and to problems with lack of memory. Therefore, this caching is only performed up to a certain number of elements; if there are more elements, no more cache is used. While a simple display of elements is still satisfactory without cache, using analyses on this base map or creating a territory structure on it can lead to very slow reaction times of easymap. You can increase the value in this case, but you should be aware that this can lead to more problems with lack of memory.
No automatic change of projection from	In certain cases the display projection is adjusted when inserting a new base map, e.g. in order not to display a map with geographical coordinates as a "flat map". However, the necessary conversion of all coordinates can be very time-consuming with large base maps. Therefore this adjustment is no longer carried out after a certain number of elements in a base map. The behaviour can be adapted here in individual cases.
Internet Maps (only visible with Advanced Settings)
Max. Number of tiles in one map	Here you can set the quality of the graphic output.
Use the browser cache	Here you can set the quality of the graphic output.
Image and Office Export
Metafile quality	Here you can set the quality of the graphic output. Standard quality (screen) High quality (XPS printer)
Automatic zoom
Use automatic zoom	Specifies whether new sheets are automatically created in auto zoom mode. The property shows the setting for the current workbook. If you change the property, you can decide in a dialog whether this property should only apply to new sheets in this workbook and/or to future newly created workbooks.
Use scale-dependent visibility	Defines whether new layers and objects within a map should take scale dependent visibility into account after creation. The property shows the setting for the current workbook. If you change the property, you can decide in a dialog whether this property should only be the default setting for new layers or objects in this workbook and/or for future newly created workbooks.
Size adjustment	Defines the default setting for the Resize property. This property is available for some analyses, territory locations and point levels. The property shows the setting for the current workbook. If you change the property, you can decide in a dialog whether this property should only be the default setting for new layers in this workbook and/or for future newly created workbooks.
Content
Toggle visibility	Here you can set the quality of the graphic output.

Tables tab

Table View
Highlighted	Here you can set the color to be used in the table if objects or areas in the map are only moved over with the mouse.
Implicitly Selected	This color displays all implicitly selected objects in tables. If a territory is clicked in the territory table and thus marked, then in other tables all associated / assigned base areas are highlighted in this color.
Explicitly selected	This color displays all explicitly selected objects in tables. After clicking in the table, the marked lines are highlighted in this color.
Font	Specifies the font and font size used in table views.
Data Import
Number format	Here you can set the number format that is to be used by default when importing or linking data.
Standard Data Access System (only visible with Advanced Settings)	The system set here allows a slower but stable data connection or a faster but not so stable connection. By default, this connection depends on the preinstalled Office on the application computer.
OleDb Connection Pooling (only visible with advanced settings)	This setting currently bypasses a faulty Microsoft Office interface.
Geocoding
Activated	Here you can specify whether the geocoding should be activated (Yes) or deactivated (No).
cache	Here you can delete all geocodings stored in the buffer. Select ... at the end of the line. You can then delete only the data for the current workbook or the data for all new workbooks. Change your selection by activating or deactivating the checkboxes and confirm with OK.
Incorrect results	With this setting, you can delete all incorrect results of your encoding. To do this, please select the ... at the end of the line. All results are automatically removed.
Tables
Get analysis filter	You can set here whether the analysis rack should be preserved (Yes) or not (No).

Tab Analyses

Classes: Here you can define default settings for future analyses. Existing analyses are not affected. Changing the settings can be useful if you usually want to apply a certain setting to certain properties of analyses, such as the color gradient. You don't have to perform the same steps every time you create a new analysis to customize it to your needs.
Default Labels	When new classes are created, easymap generates a default name. The name can be used in legends, for example. Here you can specify a different standard description. The macro [n] is replaced by the number of the class, starting with 1.
Maximum Number of Classes	If an analysis contains a lot of classes, the evaluation of the analysis becomes slow. This results in a slow map build-up. To protect the user from this when creating an analysis, a warning is issued if more classes than specified here are to be created, and the classification specification is rejected. If you want to accept the problems mentioned, set a higher value here and you can then form more extensive classifications.
If a column is specified	Specify how your analysis is to be analyzed when you insert it via Drag&Drop from the control window Data. Color (classified): Classified color classes are created. Color (continuous): Continuous color classes are created. Size (classified): Classified size classes are created. Size (proportional):Continuous size classes are created.
Number of classes	Here you define how many value classes should be inserted when creating via Drag&Drop.
Colors & gradients
Color Gradient from	Default setting for color gradients in analyses. When you create a new classification, it will start with the color you specify.
Color Gradient to	Default setting for color gradients in analyses. When you create a new classification, it will end with the color you specified. The color values in between are calculated automatically.
Color of Unclassified Regions/Data	Default setting for the color of the class that represents data that does not fall into the classification.
Sizes & Gradients
Size Gradient from	For some analyses, a size gradient is used. This initializes the size specifications in classifications, whereby the first class of the progression corresponds to the value specified here. Usually, size curve of is the smallest symbol class displayed, size curve after is the largest.
Size Gradient to	For some analyses, a size gradient is used. This initializes the size specifications in classifications, whereby the last class of the progression corresponds to the one set here. Usually, size curve from is the smallest symbol class displayed, size curve to is the largest.
Line width progression from	For some analyses, a line width progression is used. This initializes the width specifications in classifications, whereby the first class of the progression corresponds to the value specified here. Usually, Progression of line width from is the smallest line width displayed, Progression of line width to is the largest.
Line width progression to	For some analyses, a line width progression is used. This initializes the width specifications in classifications, whereby the last class of the progression corresponds to the value specified here. Usually, Progression of line width from is the smallest line width displayed, Progression of line width to is the largest.
Size of Unclassified Symbols	Default setting for the size setting of the class that represents data that does not fall into the classification. The default setting is 0pt, which means that no symbols are displayed at all in this case.
Symbols
Default Symbol	Default setting for the graphic that is used as the default for symbol analyses.
Charts
Size (middle diagram)	Default setting for the size proportion of a diagram. The larger of the middle diagram is given here.
Width (columns and bars)	Default setting for the width of columns or bars in column/bar diagrams.
Spacing (columns and bars)	Default setting for the width of columns or bars in column/bar diagrams.
Label
Font and color	For area-related analyses, you can select the user-defined label as well as the label already defined, such as area text.
Font	Here you can define the font and font size in which the labels of the analyses should appear in your maps.
Control windows
Insert legends automatically	Here you can set whether a suitable legend should be automatically inserted for an analysis. The default is set to "Yes".

Territory organization tab

Territory Layers
Territory Boundaries: Width (minimum)	Default value for the minimum width of the territory borders.
Territory Boundaries: Color	Default setting for the border colors of the territory organization.
Territory Label: Font	Default setting for the font that is to be used to label the territories of the territory organization.
Territory Label: Color	Default setting for the color of the territory organization texts (area description) - Set the font under Description (see above).
Point Symbols: Size (maximum)	Default setting for the size of the point signatures of the point planes.
Territory Areas: Display	Defines how the display is preset in newly created planar territory levels.
Territory Areas: Display if Based on Points	Defines how the representation is preset in newly created planar territory levels whose territories are based on selective basic building blocks.
Territory Areas: Width of Border Coloring (maximum)	Default setting for the maximum width of the border coloration of the territory.
Location Layers
Color System	Default setting for the color assignment of the locations. The default setting is the colors of the territory. If you switch to uniform color here, you can also define the color for the symbols.
Color	Set the color for the locations here. Can only be changed if you have changed the color system to Uniform Color.
Size	Default setting for the size of the point signatures of the territory locations of the territorial organization.
Symbol (Locations of most granular territories)	Default setting for the symbol of the finest territory level.
Symbol (Locations of second most granular territories)	Default setting for the symbol of the second finest territory level.
Point Layers
Size	Here you can set the maximum size of the point symbols.
Symbol	Default setting for the symbols of the point plane.
Color	Here you can set the color which the point signatures in the map should be.
Labeling	Default font size for point symbol labels.
Label Visible	Here you can select whether the labels of the point symbols should be displayed on the map (yes) or not (no).
Assignment Mode
Assignment from Tables	Specify which assignment scenarios you want to allow. Exactly: In which tables can an assignment be started by drag&drop? Only allow for tables that are linked to the appropriate layer This is the default setting. A Drag&Drop assignment can only be started in tables that are linked to the planning level or to the bricks of the planning level. This setting is generally recommended. Allow for all linked tables You can use this setting to start a Drag&Drop assignment in each linked table. If the coupled level is not exactly the bricks of the planning level, the covered area of the coupled areas is determined and transferred geometrically to the bricks of the planning level. The bricks determined in this way are then assigned. This mode can lead to situations that are difficult to understand. We recommend the use rather for experienced users. Example: Their territories are based on postal code areas. You have also added a "Länder" level to the map and linked a table to the Länder via coupling. If the assignment mode is active, you can now drag&drop one or more lines of this table onto the table of territories to assign the postal code areas contained in these federal states to a new territory.
Show messages easymap displays some messages in a message window. If these messages are no longer desired, there is an option to not display them in the future. Here you can switch these messages on again.
Switch Selection Layer when in Assignment Mode	Display message if the combination of planning level and marking level requires the marking level to be adjusted during territory planning.

Tab Objects

The values in this settings block determine which default settings are used to initialize newly inserted objects in the future. Existing objects are not affected. Changing the settings can be useful if you usually want to apply a certain size or font to certain objects. You don't have to perform the same steps every time such an object is inserted to customize it to your needs.
Initial Size	Specifies the size of newly inserted objects whose size does not depend on the font, etc..
Width	Defines the width of newly inserted objects. This setting only affects objects whose size is not otherwise determined by other settings (e.g. font size): line/arrow, geometric form, group, inset map, north arrow.
Height	Determines the height of newly inserted objects.
Anchor point	Default setting for the point from which the size of the object is to be calculated.
Graphics	Additional options for newly inserted graphics.
Initial Size	Always use default size: The newly inserted graphic is inserted with the default size (set under Size in this dialog). Always use original graphic size: The newly inserted graphic is inserted with the size on the sheet in which it was previously saved. Use standard size only for pre-installed graphics: Here easymap uses the standard size only for its own graphics. All other graphics are used in their original size.
Warn when inserting images larger than	You receive a message if the graphic you inserted is larger than the default.
Embed Images	Yes (default): The graphic is loaded from the specified file, but then saved as a copy in easymap. If the graphic file changes afterwards, this will not affect the display in easymap. When the workbook is passed on, the graphic is always available. Large graphics increase the size of the workbook accordingly. No: The graphic is reloaded from the source each time so it also takes over the updated content. It does not contribute to the enlargement of the workbook. However, it must be ensured that the graphic file is accessible on every computer, otherwise the graphic will be displayed with a red (x). In this case, it can be reloaded by specifying the correct path under Graphic file. This option should be selected for large graphics.
Border
Width	Almost all objects in easymap can be displayed with a border. Here you define the default width of this border. Works for all objects except: maps, leaves, line/arrow
Color	Almost all objects in easymap can be displayed with a border. Here you define the default color of this border. You can specify the color or fill effect using the color selector or directly as an HTML color value. Works for all objects except: maps, leaves, line/arrow
Line style (Line/Arrow)	Defines default settings for newly inserted objects of the line/arrow type.
Width	Line width of newly inserted objects of type line/arrow.
Color	Line color of newly inserted objects of the line/arrow type.
Shape	Defines default settings for newly inserted geometric shapes.
Fill	Filling of newly inserted geometric shapes. You can specify the color or the fill effect via the color selection field or directly as HTML color value.
Shape	Form of newly inserted geometric shapes.
Text	Defines default settings for newly inserted text objects.
Font	Font for newly inserted freehand texts.
Text	Text of newly inserted freehand text objects.
Legend elements	Defines default settings for newly inserted legends and table objects.
Fill (Legend Symbols)	Filling of newly inserted legend symbols. You can specify the color or the fill effect via the color selection field or directly as HTML color value.
Font (Legend Text)	Font of the texts in newly inserted legends or table objects.
Font (Legend Header)	Font of the heading in newly inserted legends or table objects.
table objects: Defines additional default settings for newly inserted table objects in addition to the settings under Legends and Table Objects. Presets the corresponding settings of the table object.
Max. number of visible rows	Default setting for the Max. displayed data rows property of a new table object.
Max. allowed setting for number of data rows	When defining the value for Max. displayed data rows for a particular table object, there is an upper limit to prevent the display of huge tables. These can lead to very long image build-up times. If you still want to display large tables (on your own responsibility), you can increase the limit here.
Indicator for additional rows	Default setting for the Text property for suppressed rows of a new table object.
Max. text length	Default setting for the Max. considered text length property of a new table object.
Fill (header)	Default setting for the Fill (block table header) property of a new table object. You can specify the color or the fill effect via the color selection field or directly as HTML color value.
Color scheme (data area)	Default setting for the property Color scheme (block data area) of a new table object.
Fill (data area)	Default setting for the Fill property (block data area) of a new table object. You can specify the color or the fill effect via the color selection field or directly as HTML color value.
Fill (second color, data area)	Default setting for the Fill property (2nd color) (block data area) of a new table object. You can specify the color or the fill effect via the color selection field or directly as HTML color value.
Fill (totals row)	Default setting for the Fill property (block totals row) of a new table object. You can specify the color or the fill effect via the color selection field or directly as HTML color value.
Labeling the total row	Default setting for labeling the totals row in the table object.
Fill (cell border)	Default setting for the Color property (block cell margins) of a new table object. You can specify the color or the fill effect via the color selection field or directly as HTML color value.
Width (cell border)	Default setting for the Width property (block cell margins) of a new table object.
Displayed margins	Default setting for the Displayed Margins (Block Cell Margins) property of a new table object.
Shadow style
Spacing	For some objects in easymap, a shadow of this border can be displayed in addition to the border. Here you define the default setting for the display of this shadow. The default setting sets a shadow distance of 0 pt, which means that no shadow is drawn. Works for all objects except: leaves, line/arrow
Color	Here you define the color for the shadow of the objects. You can specify the color or the fill effect via the color selection field or directly as HTML color value.
