Menu commands
Below you will find a brief explanation of the individual menu commands.
File menu
The File menu summarizes all commands that refer to the entire workbook. It also contains commands to further process the workbook (expression, exports).

submenu New |
Via this submenu you can open a new workbook. If you create a Empty workbook, the "unbenannt.empx" from the default EasyMap directory opens here. If you want to open two different workbooks, you can use the command Empty workbook in new window to open another window with EasyMap and view both workbooks. You can also open your saved templates here. |
Open... | Use this to open an already created workbook. |
Save | Save the changes in your workbook. If the workbook has never been saved, you will be asked for a file name. |
Save As... | Save your workbook in a new file. |
Save template as... | Save your workbook as a template. It is recommended to use the preselected default path. You can customize this default template location in the global Options. |
Close | Closes the current workbook. EasyMap automatically opens a new empty workbook. |
submenu Export | Opens the Export submenu, which can be used to perform various exports to other file formats. For example, you can export data. |
Publish... | Make the finished workbook available to other users in EasyMap Xplorer. Access and exact procedure for the EasyMap Xplorer you get here. |
Properties... | Displays the various properties of the workbook (including the required external sources). |
Page Setup... | Here you will find the options for page setup. |
Print Preview | This menu item offers you a side view of the standard printer. Please note that maps with a larger page than that of the standard printer will be shown broken down into individual pages. For more information on displaying the page layout, see here. |
Print... | Opens the Print dialog to print one or more sheets. |
submenu Last used workbookn | The most recently used workbookn are displayed here. These can be opened directly via the selection as long as their name or storage location has not changed. |
Exit | Use this command to exit the EasyMap program. |
Edit Menu
Some of the commands described here change the currently selected objects of the current sheet. Alternatively, you can execute these commands via the context menu of these objects in the control window Content.

Undo | Undo the last action ("Undo"). |
Redo | Restores the last undo action(s) ("Redo"). |
Copy | This menu item allows you to copy the entire sheet. |
Copy view | Copies the currently visible section of the map as a graphic to the clipboard. |
Paste | Paste the contents of the clipboard onto a new sheet. To insert the content into an existing sheet or map, please use the context menu command Insert Sheet or Map. This can be accessed via the Contents control window or the Map window. See also: Copy and Paste. |
Paste Content... | Paste a specific content from the clipboard. |
Delete | Deletes the selected object. |
Find... | Available when a visible layer of the map is enabled as the selection layer. A new search can be started via the menu item and in each level of the context menu. |
submenu Clip Map | The submenu offers several commands to create a clip map for the current map. |
submenu Highlight |
Opens the Mark submenu. Here you can select objects in different ways. Select in Close Proximity - With a click in the map window you can mark all objects that are near the clicked point.
In contrast to Mark single, a click does not mark exactly one object, but all objects in the selection layer that are close to the click position. In the case of overlapping areas, all areas located at this point are selected. So this markup option works just like mark rectangle with a very small rectangle. |
submenu Scale | Opens the map scale submenu. |
measure distance | Start the interactive mode Measure distance. In this mode you can successively define a line by clicking in the Map. In the Status bar (lower right corner of the program window) the length (line distance) of this line is displayed. You can end this mode by double-clicking with the mouse or select another mode (e.g. by clicking on the arrow symbol). |
View menu
The View menu contains all commands used to navigate on the map and to view the map better on the screen using zoom functions.

Ruler |
This menu item allows you to display rulers at the top and left of the sheet view, e.g. to facilitate the placement of elements. The ruler cannot be displayed for individual sheets, but only for all or none. The ruler can be hidden again either by calling up the menu again or by double-clicking on the edge of the ruler. |
Mark single | This mode allows the selection of individual elements. You can also select other marking modes here. |
Pan |
Starts a special mode that allows moving the sheet section with the mouse. The cursor is displayed as a hand, and you can move the section while holding down the mouse button. This is an alternative to using the scrollbars. Attention: If the Zoom mode is active within the marked map, the command affects the current map. |
Set zoom section |
Starts a special mode that allows you to set a new zoom section with the mouse. The cursor is displayed as a magnifying glass, and you can draw a rectangle with the mouse pressed down that represents the new section. The new section is adapted to the required aspect ratio, so that the section may have to be enlarged vertically or horizontally. Attention: If the Zoom mode is active within the marked map, the command affects the current map. |
Zoom in |
Enlarges the view. Attention: If the Zoom mode is active within the marked map, the command affects the current map. |
Zoom out |
Reduces the view. Attention: If the Zoom mode is active within the marked map, the command affects the current map. |
Zoom Selection |
Zooms to the selected element. Attention: If the Zoom mode is active within the marked map, the command affects the current map. |
Last excerpt | Displays the last selected section on the map. |
View 1:1 like printout |
The sheet is displayed on the screen 1:1 in the size it has according to the page settings. Here you can see, for example, what your map would look like after a printout on a sheet of paper. Use this command to check whether the size settings for the labeling of your map are within the readable range. Note: Due to various reasons, the size on the screen will not exactly match the size of the sheet, i.e. if you measure the size of an A 4 sheet on the screen using the metre scale, it will not exactly match the size of an actual A 4 sheet. This is due to technical reasons that lie outside the EasyMap display options. |
Full Extent |
With this command you can display the entire map. Attention: If the Zoom mode is active within the marked map, the command affects the visible section of the current map. This command then causes all contents of the map to be visible again. This can also be forced using the Fit all layers command. |
Zoom within the selected map | Starts a special mode Zoom within the selected map, in which all zoom commands and the move mode no longer refer to the view, but to the section of the selected map. You can deactivate this behavior by executing the command again. |
Automatic zoom | This command turns the Zoomautik on or off for the current sheet. |
Fit all Layers |
This command sets the visible geographical area of the map so that all layers contained in the map are fully visible. This action summarizes the following steps:
|
Redraw | With this command or the F5 key you can trigger the drawing of the sheet content. This is normally not necessary. However, it can update the contents of the map window again after display errors. |
Insert Menu
The commands of the menu Insert are an alternative to inserting objects by Drag&Drop from the control window Objects or base maps.

New Sheet | Use this command to insert a new sheet into the existing workbook. |
New Map |
With this command you can insert a new map directly from the base maps into the currently opened sheet. Note: Please note that this will really be another map and not an extension of an existing map. |
Legend Elements | Insert a legend for an existing analysis on the sheet by first selecting the legend and then clicking anywhere on the open sheet. More information about the individual legend elements can be found on the page Legenden. |
Freehand graphic | Add Texts, Graphics or Geometric Formsn to the Sheet by first selecting an element and then clicking anywhere on the open sheet. More information on the page free hand graphics. |
Area Properties | Insert Scale, inset map or Internet map into the map by first selecting an element and then clicking on the map or sheet. More information about the respective geography objects can be found here. |
Other objects | Add other objects like Pressure area, Report, Table or Single chart to the map. To do this, select the element and click anywhere on the open sheet. |
Data menu
EasyMap offers two different ways to manage your data. The data import is independent of the data source, since you manage all data directly in EasyMap as information. The data link only connects the EasyMap with the data source and does not allow any changes to the data - of course the data in the data source can be changed.

Import | Starts the Data Import Wizard to import a new table. |
Link | Starts the Data Import Wizard to link a new table. |
New Query |
The command opens a dialog for adding and editing new queries. First, the data to which the query is to refer is selected. In the further course the new query can be created and contents defined. |
data catalogue |
Opens the data catalog. Enables the purchase of further data. |
Managing |
Opens the control window Data. |
Refresh | When a workbook is opened, linked data is read in again by default. You can also use the Update data command to force the data to be read again while a workbook is open. As with opening the workbook, you must ensure that EasyMap has access to the required files. Otherwise, the table structure is retained in EasyMap, but the table does not contain any data rows. |
Analyses Menu
Create new analyses via the Analyses menu. In all cases, a wizard will open and guide you in several steps to the finished analysis.
By selecting the appropriate menu item, you first select the basic type of analysis. In the course of the wizard, you can then make detailed settings.
Note: The insertion of Line analyses is only possible if there are layers with line objects in your workbook. These are only contained in base maps of type Shapefile.
Territory Organisation menu
The Territory organization menu allows you to create and edit a new structure.
Note: We recommend that you use the context menus for the individual levels in the control window Territory organization instead of the Territory organization menu. On the one hand, you have the complete selection of commands and can also change the properties of the layers. On the other hand, it is directly clear from the context to which level the command refers.
However, if you prefer access via the Territory Organization menu, you will usually be asked on a first page on which territory level or location level the command should be applied. You will then see the same dialog pages as for the context menu commands.
Menu Xplorer
The EasyMap Xplorer offers you the possibility to share maps you have created in EasyMap with other people who do not have an installed map. EasyMap have.

Share (upload workbook) ... | Opens the dialog for sharing the workbook. |
My workbook in EasyMap Xplorer | Opens the map catalog in EasyMap Xplorer with the workbooks you created and uploaded. |

Menu Extras
The Extras menu provides access to additional general functions and global options.

Install maps and data | Here you can install all data and maps that are available to you. |
Change base maps | This function allows you to update all the old digital maps in your map folder. You can also switch layers to a different territorial structure without losing all settings or having to recreate the analyses. |

Convert to automatic zoom | Here you can change an older workbook (before version 10.3) to the automatic zoom function. You can read about the adjustment of the workbook here. |
Options | Displays all application-wide options. |
Window menu
The Window menu is used to access functions and options related to the program window. Here you can change the Standard Arrangements of the individual windows (data, maps, control windows) and save user-defined Window Arrangements, open further or closed windows again or bring them to the foreground as well as start the Full Screen Mode.
