Maps

Maps play a central role in working with EasyMap.

The Base Maps

A base map contains topographical information located in the correct position. In a digital base map, this information is stored digitally. It is occasionally referred to as a digital map.

A base map never contains "all" information imaginable. Rather, the intended purpose determines the information contained in the base map. For example, the map "Germany, administrative" contains only the administrative boundaries (federal states, districts, municipalities), but no postcode areas.

EasyMap uses the following as base maps, e.g:

  • World map with national borders
  • Map of Europe with borders of states, regions, administrative units
  • Administrative boundary map of Germany with countries, government districts, districts, municipalities, city districts, statistical districts
  • Postcode map of Germany with postcode zones, postcode regions and postcode areas (after 5-digit postcode)
  • Building block structure of a city

Many base maps are included with EasyMap. More are available as accessories from Lutum + Tappert DV-Beratung GmbH. You can find a comprehensive overview of available map bases on the Internet at www.geomarketing.de/karten. Control windows Base Maps open.

More information about which map formats can be used in EasyMap can be found on the next pages.

Clip Map

In EasyMap, the term Clip map is used to describe a geographical punching out, which hides all things beyond this stamped area. In EasyMap, clip maps are used to display only a certain area of a map or layer. By default, new maps or layers have no clip map set, i.e. they display the entire content.

How to set clip mapen in the map is explained here.

Scales and automatic zoom

In EasyMap it is possible to offer an optimized map view by means of adjustable scale ranges. While map software used to have to be primarily able to print a map to scale, today it is more and more common to only work with the map on the screen. Similar to navigation systems or the well-known Internet map services, EasyMap can also display more and more map details with increasing magnification. In the following, we would like to give you an overview of the possible uses and working methods of the automatic zoom function.

More about scales and automatic zoom can be found here.
